Since 2021, youth and young adults across Hampton Roads gather for an experience to remember. Learn to Build supports youth in working as a team, developing problem-solving skills, and building confidence and cognitive flexibility by learning the basics of construction.
About Learn to Build, Inc.
Then & Now
Learn to Build, Inc. was founded in 2021 by Trent Walker to provide youth and young adult Campers an experience to “Build Skills for a Lifetime” through construction basics and mentorship.
Learn to Build guides Campers through model construction projects exploring safety, and how to plan, measure, and use tools. Through the Construction Projects, Campers are led by their mentor and build with their team developing camaraderie and self-confidence. Mentors guide Campers in skill application for building projects and offer insight into the high-demand and emerging fields of construction, design, and engineering. Learn to Build connects Campers with resources for entry into trades school, four-year college or university, or jobs.

How You Can Help
Create Something Big
It takes a lot of support to keep Learn to Build, Inc. doing what they do best. Learn to Build provides snacks, personal protective equipment (masks, goggles, gloves, sanitization), building materials, tools, construction plans, mentors, and staff primarily to underserved Campers who normally would not have access to the camp. We want to make sure Learn to Build is accessible to those who need it most.
Learn to Build was incorporated in 2021. Our goal is to raise funds to cover the costs of materials and to offer Construction Project Camps and industry mentorship to more youth. There are so many ways to get involved; including sponsorships and donations. Donate today to support Learn to Build's Tuition Fund.
